It’s been just under two weeks since I’ve had a chance to just sit down and write.
Actually, it’s been hard to even get the Word in everyday as well, and boy, am I feeling the repercussions of that.
The Word of God is like armor. The more you immerse yourself in it, the stronger you are and the better you can resist that slithery snake from down below.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The enemy is always watching and waiting for the tiniest of windows to sneak in to throw you off your tracks and dissolve everything you’ve built.
He’s waiting for you to be so pre-occupied that you check Facebook before you read scripture. He’s waiting for you to check your e-mails before you pray or just talk to Him. He’s waiting for you to sit at home and watch Netflix instead of serve in the church.
And in my case, he was waiting for me to be so busy with Vacation Bible School decorations along with taking care of two kids under two, that as soon as I wasn’t able to get the Word in one day, he started whispering in my ear.
“You really think those crappy decorations are going to make a difference?”
“All you’re doing is registration, you really think THAT’S serving the church?”
“You haven’t read your precious book in almost a week now, your beloved Savior has forgotten all about you.”
These are all thoughts that have consumed my head the last two weeks. It’s interesting that even if you’re doing CHURCH stuff, he crawls in, plants himself and makes himself right at home and makes you doubt everything, ESPECIALLY your relationship with the one true King.
If he can get you to doubt your relationship with Jesus Christ, then he has done his job.
He just needs a tiny crack in your armor. A crack so small that you didn’t even know it was there. He plants just a couple small sentences in your head, and all of a sudden you’re doing his work for him and he is just sitting back with his feet up, watching your life unravel.
You see, I told myself, “The sooner I get these decorations done, the sooner I can get back into the Word.”
This was the wrong approach.
I should have gotten the Word in first, and then prayed to Him to give me the patience and time management to get it all done.
That snake saw me not get the Word in one day and pounced.
That’s what the enemy does, is he studies you. He studies everything around you. He studies how much you pray and how much your spouse prays. He studies how often you attend church. He especially studies how you react to Earthly things like gossip, money, jealousy, temptation, etc.
The Earth is the devil’s stomping grounds. This is his territory.
We HAVE to resist him.
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee.”
“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”
“…Which is able to save your souls.”
Holy smokes that’s powerful.
Don’t let a crack form in your armor.
Read the Word everyday, even if just for a couple minutes. The Word of God is the ONLY thing that can expel him away.
